Today we went to the library for the first time!
Our library day is Wednesday. In grade one, students can take out one library book. Books are due back the next week.
We also spent time this morning sorting the books in our class library. We talked about how it is easy to find a book you like if you know where to look!

Creating patterns and observing a tree
In math, we are working on creating and describing patterns. Today we talked about using letters to label our patterns. Students then worked on creating a variety of different patterns using different categories.
For science, we read a book about the changing seasons, watched a video showing a tree going through all 4 seasons and then went outside to sketch a 'summer' tree in our science journals.

Spirit Day, Pancake Breakfast and Terry Fox Run
Friday was an exciting day at Banting and Best! We had a wonderful turnout for our Pancake breakfast; students enjoyed having a pancake snack!
The rest of the morning included participating in a joint Sherwood/Banting and Best assembly, making a class poster and running to remember Terry Fox. It was a great day!
