Sorting our beautiful stuff

Thank you so much for all of the 'beautiful' stuff that came into the classroom today!

In math, students practiced sorting their 'stuff' into different categories. As a group, we practiced sorting items by colour and shape. Student's worked in pairs to sort their items.

 

 

 

Making our names

We spent time this morning making name tags - we used different beans to create different patterns!

In the afternoon we had our first music class and we found out when our birthdays are.

We had another busy day in Grade 1! The students learned about making green choices in class - doing their work, listening to the teacher, cleaning up, helping their friends. They drew pictures of themselves, completed a math counting activity and learned about playground rules. They worked so hard they ended the day with some 'choice' time!

The First Day of Grade One

The students did a fantastic job on their first day of grade one!

We read two books together: First Day Jitters and The Kissing Hand. We went to an assembly, had a school tour and made some special magents to take home. Check out our work!

Welcome to Grade One!

Welcome back to Banting and Best for the 2013-2014 school year! 

School begins on Tuesday, September 3, 2013. Students meet in the school yard and find their teacher. Teachers will have copies of class lists. 

School hours:
School starts at 8:20 AM.
Lunch is from 11:53 AM - 12:37 PM.
School ends at 2:57 PM.

Please ensure your child brings the following:
- a lunch and recess snack
- indoor shoes that can be put on independently 
- a water bottle (filled with water only!)

School supplies (pencils, crayons, erasers, rulers) will be provided. Please do not send these items with your child. 

Please note, toys from home are not allowed at school.
